Indian Lake Wedding | Dan + Cassie
Sometimes I get to work with a couple that treat me like family, and this day was that dream wedding. From the moment I walked into the room where Cassie was getting ready, she gave me a big hug, and I instantly felt appreciated. Dan and Cassie have both been the sweetest, and I am honored to share some photos from their lovely day!
When Cassie told me they would be getting ready in Dan's parents house, that happens to be a renovated barn, my heart skipped a beat. My architect, country loving soul was so excited. If only every wedding began here.
Sisters are definitely my favorite! There is something so special about celebrating with the girls who have shared in every special moment in your life.
The ceremony took place in the most beautiful little church. It felt so intimate and cozy!
What was your favorite moment of the day? I can't even try to pick one. From start to end, everything worked out exactly as I hoped it would... actually, even better. But, for the sake of answering your question. Daniel's favorite moment was during the Lord's Prayer at the ceremony. I don't know if it was because we had never stood in front of a congregation to hear it like that or the beautiful piano music as a backdrop, but there was something so overwhelming and beautiful about being surrounded in prayer with all of your close family and friends. One of my favorite moments was at the end of the night when the band finished its last song. Instead of saying their goodbyes and heading home, our guests were not going to settle for that. Everyone started a "One More Song!" chant and got the band to play another song after their set ended. Yes, it was totally awesome to have an encore at our wedding, but it was even better to see every guest out of their seat dancing and singing to each other. The entire reception had that vibe and made the night so much fun.
What about your wedding reflected your relationship as a couple? From the beginning, we had a vision for our wedding to be traditional, elegant, and simple. Although we didn't always know what color scheme or flowers to go with, we knew that we wanted to focus the day around the celebration of marriage. We did not want to lose focus on the real reason behind the day. We both got to choose one thing that meant a lot to us (The live band for Daniel and an amazing photographer for me ;) ). But, those choice made sure that the important things got covered and any other small details would just fall into place. Also, our family is extremely important to us, so we were so excited to be able to include them in all of our wedding day festivities.
The forecast was ominous all day, but the skies cleared perfectly for our portrait time. We literally stopped at this gorgeous overlook for five minutes, and right as we got back in the car to head to the reception, the rain began to pour. But as we made it to the lake, the raindrops tapered, and it was perfect once we got there.
This photo might be one of my favorite portraits...ever! Even though we pulled over for a few minutes, it was the perfect time for the newlyweds to soak in the fact that they were married. Sometimes, weddings can be hectic and crazy, but taking just five minutes to focus on each other creates a memorable moment...not to mention incredible photographs!
The reception took place at Indian Lake, the same location I photographed Dan and Cassie's beautiful engagement session! These two have spent so many weekends here together, and it was so special to see them celebrate with their loved ones in a spot that is incredibly meaningful.
This day was full of love and laughter. I had to ask Cassie for her serious face, because she could not stop smiling. As you can see, my request did not usually work :).
The bride bought bulk flowers and made this bouquet herself! I think she may have a future in floral design...it was absolutely gorgeous.
Any other details you would like to share? I know every bride and groom says this, but our day was perfect. Everyone warned me, "Something will go wrong, so just be prepared." Well maybe it did, but we didn't know about it and I don't know if it would have even bothered us. We were so lucky to have a team of helpers to guarantee all the small things got done. We are also blessed to have a family who supports and loves us. We have been celebrated by so many people over the last year - we have never felt more loved! Just as the Pastor said, we know we have so many people behind us that we can depend on and call our friends. I don't know if there is anything else you can ask for. Oh wait, I guess I got something else - a new last name :)
Cassie and Dan, thank you so much for inviting me to capture your day. The entire event was perfect, and I truly felt like I was celebrating with great friends. You two have been a dream to work with, and I can't wait to hang out again!
