Cincinnati Engagement | Becky + Mark
Becky and Mark are the cutest. They met in high school, and their wedding day just so happens to fall on the 10th anniversary of their senior prom. After spending the afternoon with these two, and their cute puppy, it is obvious that they are best friends. It makes me so excited for their Longworth Hall wedding, which is only a month away!
We scheduled this shoot for an October evening when the leaves were perfect. As I drove to Cincinnati, the rain was pouring, and the forecast did not look promising. Thankfully, the raindrops stopped just long enough for us to photograph this gorgeous session at one of my favorite Cincinnati spots: Ault Park. Becky and Mark love adventuring together, so they wanted a location that was full of beautiful nature. Speaking of beautiful nature, Mark is also an incredibly talented photographer, and his landscape images are amazing. You should check out his work!
How did the two of you meet? We met when we were in high school. We became close friends when my group of girlfriends would regularly hang out with Mark's group of guy friends. We spent lots of time getting to know each other swimming on hot summer days, watching our friends' band perform, walking to United Dairy Farmers for some ice cream, and staying up late at night deep in conversation. I always knew that there was something special about Mark. I couldn't deny the chemistry we shared and Mark's genuine spirit. Mark finally worked up the courage to ask me to his senior prom on April 22, 2006 and we have been inseparable ever since. We will be getting married the day after the 10th Anniversary of senior prom on April 23, 2016.
Tell me about the proposal! We had been together over 8 years and thought it was about time to take the next step in our relationship. We had a vacation planned to stay in Navarre Beach, Florida, to escape the wintry chill of Ohio in January of 2015. We were enjoying a nice warm day at the beach tossing a Frisbee and taking photos of the ocean. That's when Mark asked me to pose to capture a photo of the two of us on the beach. Soon I realized this wasn't going to be an ordinary photo with Mark. As he approached me, he took my hand, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. With tears rolling down my face, I managed to nod my head and say "Yes!" Looking back I am so excited he captured the whole moment on video!
What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day? Mark is looking forward to marrying his best friend. I look forward to seeing Mark standing at the end of the aisle.
