Rather than making a list of unrealistic goals and striving for more, I've decided to focus on one word for the next year and let it permeate through every area of my life. When considering the endless number of word choices, I kept coming back to this one: simplify.
After spending a year moving to a new state, finishing up two graduate degrees, and starting a full time job, I crave nothing more than simple days spent with my best friend. I'm excited to get back to the basics and relearn the things that make my heart happy. I used to run until my legs couldn't move any more, read an entire book in one day, and soak up every drop of sunshine possible. None of those things were achieved by large to do lists or self help books. I was just filling my soul and celebrating the desires God has given me.
So here's to 2015, the year that I seek to simplify my business, my home, my marriage, and what I feed myself. As I clear out the junk that often drags me down, I'm making room for Christ to fill. Hoping that 2015 is full of more journaling, more cuddling, and more exploring.
"We Christians must simplify our lives or lose untold treasure on earth and in eternity. Modern civilization is so complex as to make the devotional life all but impossible. It wears us out by multiplying distractions and beats us down by destroying our solitude, where otherwise we might drink and renew our strength before going out to face the world again." - A.W. Tozer
